The International Medical Spa Association (IMSA) is forced to postpone its Symposium at Sea due to reasons related to the hurricane season. The three-day, four-night cruise was set to launch Dec. 1, 2005 aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
“Many of those planning to attend informed us that for a variety of reasons relating to the storms they would not come,” says Hannelore Leavy, executive director of IMSA. “While we could have proceeded, we decided it would be better for everyone to delay the symposium until next year."
Because of the symposium’s departure point, a majority of those planning to attend were coming from some of the hardest hit areas, including the Gulf Coast, Florida and the Carolinas. IMSA currently is deciding where and when it can hold the symposium.
According to Leavy, the IMSA Board of Directors has formed a committee consisting of Eric Light, IMSA president, and other industry leaders to work out a solution as soon as possible.
IMSA also notes that special arrangements are underway to thank symposium sponsors for their support.
