Finding The Fountain Of Youth
As I write this editor’s note I am mentally crossing off
my important to-do list, which includes making sure there is enough food in my
house to sustain a husband and two 100-pound dogs for six days alone. Tomorrow I
jet off to another trade show. By the time you read this issue, the SPA 20/20®
team will have traveled to Las Vegas, New York, Tucson, Ariz., and many places
in between.
In today’s frantic pace to balance work and family,
individuals must set aside
time to relax and rejuvenate. After looking in the mirror this morning, I
yearned to be able to click my heels three times and be transported into the
fountain of youth.
This month’s cover story addresses this important issue and
examines the growth of anti-aging profit centers. Not only are non-invasive
treatments effective, proven and painless and offer results without downtime,
many also are harmonious with the body’s natural functions. This idea of
addressing anti-aging naturally is very attractive and deems the pursuit of
youth one in the same with good health and wellness. Please turn to page 14 to
find out how anti-aging technology creates another great profit center through
menu diversification.
This month’s profile on Ocean Oasis medical spa examines a
sanctuary where guests are encouraged to address their physical, mental and
emotional needs. Dr. Lisa Masterson, spa founder and medical director, is an
obstetrician/gynecologist who also is a staff obstetrician at Cedars- Sinai®
hospital in Los Angeles. The medical spa has several signature treatments—from
aesthetics to acupuncture—to satisfy women’s everchanging skincare needs;
however, all guests can receive more than spa and medical treatments in the
relaxing and communal atmosphere. Nutrition, stress reduction and total body
wellness are the mainstays at a place where beauty, rejuvenation and education
merge. Turn to page 48 to see what’s bringing international guests to the
small Santa Monica, Calif., oasis.
As always, we proudly offer you sound business solutions and
clinical insights into some of the most popular treatments and products on the
professional market. Although the strategies of maintaining youth have become
somewhat more sophisticated through the years, the core of this desire remains
the same: People want to remain youthful and are willing to go to any lengths to
do so. This issue of SPA 20/20® touches on a number of these issues sure to
bring in added profits.
