The medical-grade aluminum oxide crystals used in the microdermabrasion procedures come in two-sided disposable cartridges that serve respectively as both the clean and waste crystal repositories. When a cartridge is used, a new one is placed, which avoids the traditional filter clean-up and crystal-scooping processes.
