Canyon Ranch Boards Queen Mary 2

TUCSON, Ariz.—Canyon Ranch has established a state-of-the-art SpaClub™ aboard Cunard’s new Queen Mary 2. The Queen Mary 2 is being called the largest passenger ship ever built, and the spa doesn’t disappoint. California Governor Inspires Day-Spa Treatment

SAN FRANCISCO—Pumped up by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent gubernatorial victory in California, Spa Radiance has developed its Terminator Treatment, a new service for men.

The Nailco Group ‘Making Strides’ In Fighting Cancer

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.—More than 400 employees, family and friends of The Nailco Group gathered Oct. 11 on Belle Isle Park in Detroit for the 6th Annual American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. As a flagship sponsor of the event, The Nailco Group raised $150,000 to benefit the society’s Breast Cancer Research Fund. The noncompetitive walk not only raised funds for research but united those who share a passion for curing breast cancer.

“The spirit of the event this year was amazing,” says Larry Gaynor, president and CEO of The Nailco Group. “I’m truly proud of our staff. The number of walkers from The Nailco Group doubled over last year’s participation, and I felt heartened to see hundreds of others from the community unite in the fight against breast cancer. Together, we are making great strides to find a cure.”

This year’s event raised $655,000.

Erlich Returns To ISPA Board

LEXINGTON, Ky.—David Erlich, spa director at The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma, Calif., returns to the International SPA Association board of directors. Erlich began his term in October during the 13th Annual ISPA Conference & Expo in Dallas.

The ISPA board is responsible for overseeing the affairs of the organization, which includes approximately 2,000 members in 60 countries. Erlich is one of 15 spa professionals serving on the 2003-2004 board. He is a familiar face on the ISPA board; he previously served from 1999-2001 as treasurer.

Erlich became spa director of The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in August 2002 after running his own spa consulting business in Hawaii. His 12 years in hotel and resort management include serving as spa director for the Grand Wailea and Ritz-Carlton.

Body Drench Signs Pro Soccer Player As Spokesperson

Kohala Salon Gets Makeover

Broadmoor Renovates Spa

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Spa at The Broadmoor is undergoing renovations, with an estimated re-opening on April 16.

New features will include: six new European-style massage rooms and three new European-style facial rooms; a new showpiece couple’s room; two new TAG Galyean $100,000 SilverTAG Showers; unique overflow infinity edge soaking tubs for hydrotherapy treatments; larger ladies’ locker area size with four additional showers and new personal restrooms; and completely renovated spa entrance and quiet room.

The major renovation work on The Spa will be done Jan. 16 through April 15. During that time, The Spa will offer a full menu of massage and body treatments and facials in the Southeastmoor Building. To accommodate for the inconvenience, spa prices have been reduced by 10 percent during the renovation period.


Aquaterra Gets $1 Million Face Lift

Biddiscombe Prepares For Spray-Tanning Season

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—Biddiscombe has purchased more equipment for manufacturing in preparation for the upcoming spray-tanning season.

“We were shipping 1,500 gallons of DHA solution each day last season,” says Anthony Barbush, marketing director for Biddiscombe. “We are gearing up to do twice the volume this season.”

Action Bag’s Breast-Cancer Awareness Campaign A Success

WOOD DALE, Ill.—Action Bag & Display, a women-owned company, actively participated in breast cancer awareness throughout October, which was National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The company created its own campaign for fund-raising and awareness.

Employees were encouraged to purchase items from the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; those who did received two hours off to get mammograms or share the importance of early detection with significant females in their lives. Participants also were able to wear denim—often associated with breast cancer awareness—throughout the month.

Lake Austin Spa Resort To Expand
