The Spa At The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Offering Everything Under One Roof
by Scott Eric Barrett

The Spa at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club has been featured in USA Today, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Shape and Style. Opened in 1987, Ponte Vedra is one of north Florida’s largest most sophisticated luxury spas. Guests delight in an aesthetically-pleasing environment of 12,000 square feet where peaceful surroundings and ultra-modern facilities combine with an impressive selection of more than 100 beauty and nurturing services.

Featuring a professionally trained and licensed staff skilled in the latest advances in spa therapy, Ponte Vedra’s decor is elegantly understated, featuring muted hues and soft pastels that relax the spirit. Annually, Ponte Vedra receives the “Best Spa” award from Jacksonville Magazine, says Andy Radovic, the spa’s marketing director.

“The ability to enjoy the wide and varied resources and amenities of the AAA Five-Diamond-rated Ponte Vedra Inn & Club makes us stand out from our competitors,” he says. “Only seven Florida resorts are rated Five-Diamond, which speaks to the high levels of their personal service. Additionally, our close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean’s beaches creates an overall relaxing mood that is consistent with our services, which soothe the mind and body.”

Serving The Masses

“When we first opened in the late 1980s, the world of spas wasn’t very broad,” Radovic says. “There were a couple of spas here in Florida and a couple in California. In the last 16 years, the industry exploded. Day spas really have become a marketing phenomenon.”

It’s not easy to compete in a crowded marketplace like Florida, so Ponte Vedra decided to offer as many services as possible to make its facility a one-stop shopping extravaganza where a client doesn’t visit for a massage and then go somewhere else for a manicure.

“Clients can park there in the morning and stay with us all day and enjoy all services throughout the day,” he says.

Every credible spa must offer relaxing massages. Ponte Vedra offers its clients six options: Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, Reflexology, Sports Massage, LaStone Massage and the popular Maternity Massage.

“The Maternity Massage is a delightful full-body massage specifically designed to bring comfort to expecting mothers,” Radovic says. “A special cushioned-support system allows for the option of lying face down during the treatment.”

Also extremely popular is the LaStone Massage, a unique body treatment rooted in Native American traditions. “Smooth, black-basalt lava stones are heated and placed on top of the body, under the neck and back, and in between toes. The heat from the stones, combined with essential oils and massage, virtually melts muscle stiffness away and creates a feeling of deep relaxation and well-being,” he says.

Ponte Vedra also offers nine aesthetic treatments including the popular Q-10 Skin Energizing Facial and the Eye Contour.

“The Q-10 facial is an antioxidant treatment that improves the skin’s moisture level, texture and activates the skin’s own energy production,” Radovic says. “The skin is cleansed and exfoliated and then Q-10 is applied before a hydrating mask.”

The Eye Contour treatment utilizes effective ingredients to nourish the delicate tissue around the eyes. A soothing special-care treatment helps relieve that worn-out, tired look, and helps regain and retain skin tone and elasticity while diminishing fine lines and puffiness.

Ponte Vedra also offers 10 body treatments including the Body Polish, Herbal Wrap, Spa Sensation Salt Rub, Honey Suckle Algae Scrub, Sea Mud Pack Treatments, Milk and Honey Rehydrating Treatment, Ultimate Milk and Honey Rehydrating Treatment, Aroma/Algae Purification Treatment, Ultimate Aroma/Algae Purification Treatment and the Paraffin Body Treatment.

“Clients really enjoy the Paraffin Body Treatment,” Radovic says. “It delivers luscious sensations as we paint your body with warm paraffin. The client’s skin will be extremely hydrated, and tired, aching muscles and joints will be soothed. It’s especially beneficial for arthritic conditions and dry skin.”

Ponte Vedra even offers salon services including haircuts, color weaving and waxing services.

“I love that we offer special services like the Bridal Styling with Veil,” Radovic says. “We know that every bride wants to look absolutely perfect on her special day. That’s why we invite anxious brides to bring their veil to one of our stylists for a special consultation and hairstyling session.”

Airbrush tanning is a service that grows more popular every year, and Ponte Vedra believes it is exactly the type of service its clients appreciate.

“It’s an effective way to have a tan without causing possible damage to the skin from overexposure,” Radovic says. “We use BreeZe Products’ DHA solution for our airbrush equipment. The results are outstanding and the customer is left with an even, radiant tan that lasts seven to 10 days. It’s quick and easy to apply. We charge $35 per application.”

A Step Further

Of its many luxuriating spa packages, the Spa Unwind Package—which combines a massage, facial, body polish, manicure, pedicure and lunch—is tops.

“It’s popular because the package offers the full range of head-to-toe services,” Radovic says. “This day of beauty or pampering package takes six hours to complete. It makes a great gift for the ladies.”

One of the spa’s most popular features is the La Cascada Garden. This 2,000-square-foot private outdoor gardenoasis features lush vegetation, an oversized Jacuzzi, a cascading waterfall and comfortable lounge chairs.

“Guests find this an ideal location to recline and relax in their spa robes either before or after services,” Radovic says. “It also is a popular location in which to enjoy a spa lunch which is offered daily.”

Gentlemen and ladies each enjoy a private lounge area that can be used to relax prior to and after spa services. Private lockers are available. The locker rooms feature a steam room, sauna room, private showers, changing area, makeup mirrors and hair dryers.

Ponte Vedra currently has 75 employees. It sends all employees, depending on their work focus, to industryspecific training conferences and technical schools. Several employees each year are sent to Germany to study at the Biodroga Institute. Additionally, Ponte Vedra conducts numerous in-house classes and seminars.

Ponte Vedra was designed to appeal to men and women, young and old, who like to look and feel great— to people who know the importance of temporarily placing home and career aside in order to achieve that ultimate sense of well-being, Radovic says.

“We have created an aesthetically-pleasing environment where peaceful surroundings and ultra-modern facilities are combined with an impressive selection of more than 100 beauty and pampering services,” he adds. “The opportunity, each day, to impact the consumer in a very positive and dramatic way motivates us. We will continue to educate and expose the consumer to the many health and feel-good benefits of partaking in a spa experience. Also, we plan to continue our plans to further educate our staff in the latest skills and trends in the spa industry.”
